A physician decides, before anything ships.
Your intake is read by a licensed physician, not scored by a form and forwarded to a warehouse. If something in your history needs a conversation, you get a conversation rather than a rejection email.
Most weight-loss telehealth hands you a “network of licensed providers” — a different name on every message, none of them carrying what the last one decided. The practice behind Dope Doctors is smaller than that on purpose. You can see who is responsible for your care, which is more than most of this category will show you.

It is the first thing people ask about, so it may as well be the first thing we tell you. Here is what it means and, more usefully, what it does not.
This category is full of practices named after Greek letters and lowercase adjectives, and they are impossible to tell apart a week later. We went the other way. You will not confuse us with anyone else.
Nothing about the name is a nudge toward something recreational or unregulated. What you receive is written by a licensed physician, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy, and shipped with your name on it.
Intake, physician review, a prescription written for you, dose changes when you need them, and a person to message when something feels off. The name is the only unusual thing here.
A care team handles the intake conversation. One physician makes the decision, and it is the same physician every time. Not a stock photo, not an advisory board, not a name in the footer of a terms page.

Dr. Tuan Nguyen
Medical director · the practice behind Dope Doctors
Our journey into health and wellness began with our Medical Director, Tuan Nguyen, M.D., who completed his Family Medicine residency training and served as the assistant Chief Resident at St Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He soon became board-certified in Family Medicine.
Tuan had a vision for a program that would equip patients from coast to coast with the tools to achieve their weight loss goals.
With that dream in mind, he started his own hospitalist group in Naples, Florida, while serving as Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Naples Community Hospital from 2012 to 2017. He won the prestigious Carl W. Liebert M.D. Award in 2014 and was awarded Physician of the Year by his peers in 2015. Along the way, Dr. Tuan’s vision became a reality, and we at Dope Doctors have helped numerous people just like you set and achieve their weight loss goals.
Dope Doctors coordinates care and handles everything around it — intake logistics, shipping, billing and support. It does not employ providers, dispense medication, or take part in any clinical decision. Every prescribing decision described on this page is made by your treating provider.
Ordered by when you meet them — the first happens before anything ships, the last is the one nobody in this category likes to put in writing.

Every dose at every strength is inside the monthly price. Titrating up does not cost more, because the usual trick in this category is quoting you a low first month on a low dose and repricing you at the dose that actually works.
03
Some people should not be on this, and some people will not get where they hoped. Hearing that costs us a patient and is the entire reason a practice is worth trusting over a storefront.
04
For this category insurance mostly says no, and the months spent finding that out are months you are not treated. One predictable number, no prior authorization, no denial letters. HSA and FSA cards work, and we will itemize a receipt if you want to try submitting it yourself.

Cancel with notice and there is no fee, no retention call, and no penalty for coming back later. A practice that has to trap people is telling you something about its results.
Every one of these is something people assume about a practice like this. Getting them wrong wastes your time, so here they are plainly.
Your provider prescribes. A licensed compounding pharmacy prepares it. Dope Doctors does neither — it coordinates the care around them.
Compounded medications are customized prescriptions created for individual patients based on a licensed provider's clinical evaluation. These medications are not reviewed or approved by the FDA prior to use and may vary in safety, efficacy, and potential side effects when compared to FDA-approved drugs.
No packages, no bundles, nothing sold to you at a counter on your way out. There is one program price and it is on the page before you give us anything.
We do not bill it and we will not fight it for you. If you want to try, we will hand you an itemized receipt and you keep whatever you get back.
No meal plans, no app streaks, no accountability calls. Work with a coach or a dietitian if you want one — plenty of people should — but that is not what you are paying us for.
Same physician, same everything-included pricing, same ability to move between them at no cost. What separates them is how many pathways the therapy works on.
$99 your first month, then $199 a month. One medication pathway, with vitamin B12 added. Where most people begin, and where a lot of people stay.
$149 your first month, then $299 a month. Two pathway working together, paired with B3. Often chosen by people restarting therapy, or who have plateaued on a single mechanism.
Fifteen minutes with the care team. No charge, no obligation. You will know whether this is right for you before you pay anything.
